Security & Data
How Methods Lab works, what data it handles, and who's responsible.
How it works
Methods Lab is a standard HTTPS web application. There is nothing to install, no browser extensions required, and no account creation currently needed to use the tool.
When you submit a research idea or respond to a coaching prompt, that text is sent securely from your browser to a backend API, which calls Anthropic's Claude API — the same AI infrastructure behind Claude.ai — to generate a response. The result is returned to your browser.
Data storage and access
- No research content is stored in any permanent database.
- Request data may be transiently logged by the hosting infrastructure for approximately one hour, after which logs are automatically and permanently deleted.
- No personal data — name, email, institutional affiliation — is collected anywhere in the tool's input forms.
- Standard Google Analytics (GA4) is used for aggregate traffic metrics only (page views, session counts); no content-level tracking.
Ownership and responsibility
The site, domain, and all infrastructure are owned and operated directly by Dr. Abdul Wajid, who is responsible for the application's security practices. As infrastructure owner, administrative access to hosting and server logs is standard, consistent with any individually-operated web application — research content is not reviewed, stored, or used beyond what's necessary for the tool to function.
